Microsoft And Apple Ponder Post-PC Future
posted by Editor on Wednesday February 06, @01:11PM
Information Appliance Interfaces Greg Weiss writes "With the release of Xbox, Microsoft is clearly turning not just its thoughts, but preparing the thoughts of the public for a post-PC future. Microsoft eHome VP Mike Toutonghi talks about where Microsoft is trying to connect to consumers this recent CNet interview. Look for MS allowing you to put snoopy 'babycam' cameras in your home at consumer price points. Hopefully hackers won't be able to hack your home network, right? More pithily, Steve Job summarizes his vision: "The future is the digital hub...We believe the digital hub is the future of the PC." at the end of this iMac flat panel introduction article. If the PC is the hub, we should look for innovation beyond the spokes then, eh?"

... i think we all saw it coming. now that things like the handspring treo, and the motorola vBox are coming out, we're starting to see real evidence of the idea.

products like moxi are good ideas (building my own, try it here).

i shall be patiently waiting for the next generation of integrated devices...

I'm not a robot like you. I don't like having disks crammed into me... unless they're Oreos, and then only in the mouth. -- Fry
