The Command Line Learning Curve
posted by Editor on Monday June 17, @06:00PM
Command Line Interfaces Androse Rosewood writes "A quite interesting discussion is going on at MacSlash about the command line interface of the VMS versus the unix ones. Despite various syntaxical disparities, both systems similarly fail to respond to simple needs of the user : how to know what command(s) to use for a given task ? what can I do with a given command ? etc. For most users, reading man pages is not an option. Apparently, Apple has developped years ago a tool called Commando that prompted the user with radio boxes, text fields etc when a command was given. Does anyone have futher information about it ?"
