This analysis on ITworld.com predicts that the Tablet PC interface will supplement rather than replace traditional interfaces based on keyboard and mouse. Activities such as simple document editing, filling out forms, and entering information into spreadsheets are done more easily using a stylus than a keyboard and mouse. Also, some market segments are ready to accept this technology such as eastern Asia, where keyboards are inadequate to handle the written languages, the education market, and some business markets. Microsoft has enabled two new interfaces in Tablet PC, including the ability to write directly on the screen with a special stylus, and voice annotation and recognition. However, it has yet to deliver support for these interfaces in its productivity application software, such as Outlook and Office.
