Macromedia Extending Flash For Full-Function Web Applications
posted by Editor on Wednesday October 02, @07:35PM
The Evolving Web This article on InfoWorld reports that Macromedia is extending Flash to work with Java and .NET Web application servers. Macromedia Flash Remoting MX enables integration of Macromedia Flash content with applications built using Microsoft .NET, SOAP-based web services, and Java-based application servers such as IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic. Macromedia Flash Remoting MX provides capabilities that will allow the development of full-function Web applications, such as record set handling and data binding. Flash is now installed on a critical mass of Web browsers, and the addition of more sophisticated data-processing capabilities may indicate that Macromedia may be trying to evolve Flash from a format for graphics and advertising content into a full-function Web application development platform.
