3D Eye is an Internet Explorer browser plug-in that visualizes web site contents in 3D. It provides a kind of 3D micro-windowing system called a Collective Information Display that displays all objects on a web site as windows, each of which is attached to a fixed point in a rotatable 3D space that always faces the user. In order to deal with hierarchical information, folders are displayed and interact as embedded rotatable 3D spaces, and links between items are represented by a system of lines. Here are some screen shots, and a 30-day trial version of the software can be downloaded.

I'd have to call that psuedo 3D at best, and even that by a stretch of the imagination. A 3D thematic presentation (layered 2D graphics) does not in any way equate directly to a 3D interface. This is somewhat novel and would be excellent for quickly mapping/spidering an intended site but it's really just a glorified flow chart.

It is 3D, not 2½D or layered 2D - it is a pure and simple rotatable virtual 3D space in which are suspended 2D images and nothing else.
It isn’t a flow chart, it is more of a link chart and most definitely a 3D link chart that shows links within their hierarchical context- what else can do that?
Yes it is most definately a chart rather than an immersible virtual world, but how many intrinsically 3D charts do you see?
The Author.

The interface is interesting in its conceptualization of the inforamtion but doesn't provide much beyond standard limited hierarchical presentation other than the selective occlusion based on cycling the fore/aft page icons; this could benefit form a zoomable interface and a more swiftly navigated hierarchy (rather than 1D in/out option per layer).
Which isn't to say that it isn't cool and fun to play with, just not an assist in the rapid dissemination of information to the user (from my humble perspective).
